<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that efficiently discharges developer that has an inappropriate quantity of charges (Q/M) onto a photoreceptor when an image is not formed, without greatly changing electrostatic image forming conditions and developing conditions used in regular image formation. <P>SOLUTION: Continuous image formation is stopped each time image formation is carried out on 2,000 sheets, then the control of a developer discharge mode is performed. A developer discharge mode is controlled. Toner in the developing device 4a is held on a developing sleeve 41 and electrically transferred to a photosensitive drum 1a, and a discharge toner band is formed at the full cleaning-width of the cleaning device 6a. By applying the voltage of negative polarity to a primary transfer roller 5a, the discharge toner band is recovered by the cleaning device 6a while avoiding primary transfer to an intermediate transfer belt 11. In the developer ejection mode, development contrast is increased compared to that in regular image formation, and the peripheral speed of the developing sleeve 41 is substantially decreased compared to that in regular image formation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
