PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exhibit a useful function for reducing erroneous detection of a skew of recording paper caused by an installation error in an optical displacement sensor 38 and register roller pairs 33. SOLUTION: This image forming device has the register roller pairs 33, the optical displacement sensor 38 and an unillustrated control part for calculating a skew quantity to the carrying direction of the recording paper P based on a detection result thereby, and is provided with a moving means for moving the optical displacement sensor 38 held by a support plate 801 between a sheet detecting position (a) for detecting displacement of the recording paper P in a carrying passage and a carrying member detecting position ((b)-(e)) for detecting displacement of a surface of the respective rollers.
