The invention relates to a closing device for a door. The device comprises a power-actuated and/or spring force-actuated catch device F for mounting on the stationary door frame TR or the door leaf TF. The catch device comprises a movably mounted catch element F and a power-actuated and/or stored energy-actuated drive assembly M that is connected to the catch element F. It is essential that the catch element F can be engaged in and disengaged from the counter element, for example the lock latch S, such that the catch element F can be brought into engagement with the counter element S for closing the door leaf TF and disengaged from the counter element S outside of the closing step.
