PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide shot peening powder for shot peening using powder having a soft metal coat such as Sn formed by plating or the like on a steel ball for use in providing compression residual stress. SOLUTION: The shot peening powder coated with soft metal comprises the steel ball coated with the soft metal and serves as the power for shot peening. The soft metal is Sn, Sn alloy, Zn or Zn alloy.
