<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the security by allowing the protective concealment or the like of the position where an electronic key using the radio technology is present to be difficult in an electronic key system. <P>SOLUTION: The travel start signal is transmitted in a vehicle from an on-vehicle machine 20 simultaneously the travel start of a vehicle 2. When an electronic key 10 receives the travel start signal, it returns the motion information signal indicating the motion of the electronic key 10. On the other hand, the on-vehicle machine 20 recognizes the traveling condition of the vehicle 2 based on the result of detection of a vehicle side acceleration sensor 29 and a vehicle side azimuth sensor 25. Further, the on-vehicle machine 20 recognizes the motion of the electronic key 10 based on the received motion information signal. If the on-vehicle machine 20 determines that the motion of the electronic key 10 is not the motion associated with the travel of the vehicle 2, it determines that the electronic key 10 possibly is not present in the vehicle and regulates the travel of the vehicle 2.
