A slide fastener is provided. A first series of first coupling elements (1) are carried on each of first and second stringer tapes (40, 41). A second series of second coupling elements (10) are carried on each of the first and second stringer tapes (40, 41). An intermediate coupling element (20) is carried on the first stringer tape (40) and positioned between a terminal coupling element of the first series on the first stringer tape (40) and a terminal coupling element of the second series on the first stringer tape (40). The intermediate coupling element (20) has a first edge (50) shaped to co-operate with an engagement part (4) of a terminal coupling element (T) of the first series on the second stringer tape (41) and a second edge (51) shaped to co- operate with an engagement part (12) of a terminal coupling element (T) of the second series on the second stringer tape (41).
