PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner for liquid development, excellent in image quality. SOLUTION: The toner for liquid development includes particles having a plurality of projections and having a coat above at least a part of the surface of the toner particle, the toner particle further containing a crystal that forms at least one of the plurality of projections. A method for producing a toner for liquid development includes: a dispersion step of preparing a dispersion liquid having particles dispersed in a dispersion medium, the particles formed by a coat and encapsulating the material for a crystal inside; and a forming step of forming a crystal in the particle, the crystal having a maximum length larger than the particle diameter of the particle by applying external stimulation.
