The device (10) has a conveying device (40) including retaining devices (50) for retaining an object i.e. beverage can (20). The conveying device transports the object retained in the retaining devices from a treating station (30a) to another treating station (30b). One of the treating stations is designed as a drying station, which is formed for drying the object by inductive heating of an outer wall of the object. The retaining devices rotate the object around the rotational axis (51). The drying station has a suction device for sucking fluid medium. An independent claim is also included for a method for surface treatment of a circular cross sectional object.
