PURPOSE:To stabilize a colored body by utilizing intramolecular and intermolecular hydrogen bonds and to improve recording stability by using a specific spiropyran compd. and suppressing the photochromism of spiropyran molecules having an OH group by adjusting pH. CONSTITUTION:This medium has a substrate and a thin-film recording layer consisting of the spiropyran compd. which is formed on the substrate, is expressed by formula I and contains the OH group in either of an X position and Y position. In the formula, R denotes an alkyl group; X denotes hydrogen, hydroxyl group, hydroxyalkyl group; Y denotes a hydroxyl group, nitro group. The photochromism of the spiropyran molecules contg. the OH group is controlled by adjusting the pH in this way and the colored body is stabilized by utilizing the intramolecular and intermolecular hydrogen bonds. The recording stability of the optical recording medium is thus improved. |
