PURPOSE: A method and a system for measuring the surface roughness of a moving material are provided to rapidly and accurately detect a material with defects by measuring the surface roughness of the material. CONSTITUTION: A method for measuring the surface roughness of a moving material is as follows. The surface of a moving material(11) is photographed using an image acquisition part(13). The surface roughness is obtained by measuring a brightness difference from the photographed images The clearest image is extracted from multiple images. An image processing part(14) provides a result value of the surface roughness. A display part(15) displays the result value of the surface roughness.
