PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a descending device which is easy to detach from and attach to anywhere of a rope hanging down and is easy to operate. SOLUTION: The vertical descending device has such a structure in which a lid (15) of the descending device is installed by loosening butterfly nuts of upper and lower columns (3, 4), opening the lid (14), and clamping the rope (17) in a descending device body (1), and the rope supports the weight of a user without being detached from the device body by closing the lid (15) and tightening the butterfly nuts of the upper and lower columns (3, 4) so as not to detach the rope (17) during use. Hanging down from the descending device is performed by using an auxiliary tool (18) and an auxiliary band (19), and descending is achieved by pressing an operation lever (12) so as to separate it from the device body.
