PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner for automatically removing dust stuck to a filter inside a dust collecting chamber and preventing the decline of suction force. SOLUTION: In the vacuum cleaner, a decompression chamber 12 connected with the dust collecting chamber 10 through a connecting hole (filter vicinity path) 11 provided in the lower part of a dust collecting chamber filter (filter) 21 disposed between the dust collecting chamber 10 and an electric blower is arranged. An isolation valve (filter vicinity path isolation valve) 14 for opening and closing the connecting hole 11 is arranged in the middle of the connecting hole 11, and a pump 15 for reducing the atmospheric pressure of the decompression chamber 12 is connected to the decompression chamber 12 further. During cleaning, after closing the connecting hole 11 by the isolation valve 14, by discharging air inside the decompression chamber 12 by the pump 15 and opening the isolation valve 14 after stopping the cleaner, suction air is generated near the dust collecting chamber filter 21, the dust stuck to the dust collecting chamber filter 21 is automatically removed, and the suction force is not lowered.
