PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an identification of a new role of CXCR-4 in the genetic transformation and abnormal multiplication of the cell.

SOLUTION: The present invention particularly relates the changes of gene expression of CXCR-4 in many primary tumors and cell lines derived from the tumor in addition to the changes of gene expression in a ligand of CXCR-4. In addition, the present invention partly relates to a surprising discovery by the inventors, that is the inhibition of CXCR-4 gene expression or CXCR-4 activity in the transformed cells reverses the transformed phenotype.
