摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of enhancing the transmittance and attaining high definition for the pixels. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device of a transverse electric field system includes a color filter substrate; a first substrate opposed to the color filter substrate while holding a first liquid crystal in-between; a second substrate opposed to the color filter substrate, while holding a second liquid crystal in-between, a first polarizing plate disposed on the first substrate; and a second polarizing plate disposed under the second substrate. A plurality of first pixels and a first alignment layer are formed on the first substrate; a second alignment layer is formed on the surface on the first liquid crystal side of the color filter substrate; a plurality of second pixels and a third alignment layer are formed on the surface on the second liquid crystal side of the second substrate; and a fourth alignment layer is formed on the surface opposed to the second substrate of the color filter substrate. Alignment directions of the first to fourth alignment layers are equal to one another, the directions of the polarization axes of the first and second polarizing plates are equal to each other in a polarization axis and the alignment directions are set to be parallel or orthogonal to the polarization axis. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
