A solar panel for heating Nvater comprises a finned tube heat exchanger located within a box 2 having a front glass sheet 1, which may be coated internally. The heat exchanger may include top and bottom headers 4. Preferably, the glass sheet is flexibly sealed onto a front flange and held in position with mechanical brackets 3 on all sides. The solar panel may incorporate an air pressure control system 5 to allow the pressure within the box to be kept relatively constant. A desiccant air drier cartridge may also be included to ensure that air within the box has a low humidity to prevent condensation forming on the glass. Preferably, a fixing flange 7 is provided on all sides at the rear of the box for fitting onto a roof structure, so that the panel can be made part of a roof covering. |
