PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for installing interphase insulating paper wherein interphase insulating paper is installed to a stator core without damaging a coupling leg. SOLUTION: An interphase insulating paper installing apparatus 10 installs interphase insulating paper as follows. With interphase insulating paper 120 gripped with first to fourth gripping lug units 21 to 24, an interphase insulating paper installation unit 20 is disposed inside a stator core 110 by a transfer path robot 12. The first to fourth griping lug units 21 to 24 are moved outward in the direction of the radius of the stator by a transfer mechanism 30. Coupling legs 123, 123 are inserted into slots 112, 112 and moved to the depth of the slots, and then, the gripping lugs 40 equipped on the first to fourth gripping lug units 21 to 24 are opened to install the interphase insulating paper 120 to the stator core 110.
