PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To integrate a plurality of pieces of firmware for each unit into unified firmware, to thereby enable upgrade of all units, and to facilitate version management, to thereby streamline upgrade processing.SOLUTION: When a camera system is turned on, unit information is communicated between a lens unit 1 and a body unit 2 via communication I/F units 11, 12. Based on received unit information, the unit 2 checks the presence or absence of relevant firmware within the unified firmware of a memory card 27 or a storage portion 22. The unit 2 provides the unit 1 with information on the presence of absence of the relevant firmware. When the relevant firmware exists, the unit 2 continues transmission of the unified firmware. When the relevant firmware does net exist, the unit 2 transmits information on the non-existence of the relevant firmware. After receiving the information on the non-existence of the relevant firmware, the unit 1 copies the received unified firmware into a storage portion 12, updates it into the relevant firmware, and transmits an updated result to the unit 2. Each unit uses the processing result to update the unit information. |
