An illustrative embodiment of a computer-implemented process for identification of expertise using interaction metrics receives a user identity to form an identified user, receives usage information associated with the identified user to form received information and identifies usage patterns in the received information to form identified usage patterns. The computer-implemented process further applies assessment factors to the identified usage patterns and received information, calculates a ranking for the identified user to form a calculated ranking and assigns the calculated ranking to the identified user.
