PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface illumination device at a side-lighting method which is excellent on luminance by effectively guiding light emitted from an LED to a light guide plate.SOLUTION: The surface illumination device 10 includes the LED 11, the light guide plate 21, and a reflector 31 arranged in the vicinity of the LED 11. The LED 11 is formed by covering the LED chip 13 arranged by piling up on the light guide plate 21 and mounted on a lead frame 12 with a sealing part 14. The reflector 31 includes a first reflection part 32 arranged behind the sealing part 14, and a second reflection part 33 arranged at a lower part of the sealing part 14. These reflection parts together with the sealing part 14 are arranged on a notch part 26 formed on the light guide plate 21. The reflector 31 is elastically supported with a pair of support parts 43 so as to be laterally and vertically deformable via a base part 35, and formed so as to make the base part 35 push the light guide plate 21 and the lead frame 21 with elastic stability generated with such the deformation. |
