PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foil roll having a core of a wound stiffening material sent to a spiral roll winder simultaneously with the supply end of a foil web, by forming the core of the wound stiffening material out of a flat stiffening material sheet in the first place, and to provide an apparatus and a method for winding the foil roll having the core of the wound stiffening material for sending the stiffening material sheet to the roll winder in a state of positioning the front edge of the stiffening material slightly ahead of the supply end of the foil web.SOLUTION: The stiffening material sheet is arranged outside from the foil web, and is adjacent to a roll starter guide, and checks the contact between the guide and the foil web when forming the first core. After forming the first core, the roll starter guide moves from contact with the outer periphery of a roll, and winds the foil web around the core without damaging the web. This apparatus receives a continuous supply of a web material of foil and the stiffening material, and cuts the material in a predetermined length, and successively forms a foil roll of the economically wound core. |
