PURPOSE: A multi-purpose wireless LAN adapter is provided to enable a computer to remotely control power in a wireless LAN environment. CONSTITUTION: A wireless communication unit(12) wirelessly communicates with a wireless gateway of a local area. A body LAN card connecting unit(13) is connected to a LAN card with a system wake-on function embedded in a computer body by a cable. A controller(10) receives a manipulation signal from away computers which are connected each other through a remote control server. The controller transmits a magic packet to a computer body embedded LAN card. The controller controls the power of the computer main body.
