A touch sensitive device 300 incorporated in a personal computer, digital media player or mobile phone, can compensate for a negative pixel effect in touch signal outputs due to poor grounding of an object touching the device. To do so, the device can switch to a configuration to measure the grounding condition of the touching object and use the measurement to compensate the touch output values from the device accordingly. In the switched configuration, some un-stimulated drive lines 302c of the device can switchably couple to sensors to detect a capacitance indicative of the object's grounding condition (such as drive line 302b) and become auxiliary sense lines. The drive lines can also be switched to couple to a stimulation signal input to drive the device (302a), and to couple to ground. A second set of sense lines (304) can be coupled to a touch signal output to output a signal indicative of the object's touch at the device. The drive lines can be switched to function as sense lines and vice versa. The grounding signal can be applied to the touch signal to compensate for the negative pixel effect. |
