The invention provides a syringe or autoinjector for dispensing a drug 1 comprising a rigid syringe body 16 containing the drug 1, an oxygen absorbing material 14, an inner separating element 2 between the drug 1 and oxygen absorbing material 14 to prevent the drug from contacting the oxygen absorbing material but which allows oxygen to pass from the drug to the oxygen absorbing material, and an oxygen impermeable container 3 enclosing both the drug and the oxygen absorbing material. Thus drug contamination with oxygen is prevented. The oxygen impermeable container may partially or fully form the rigid syringe body (see figure 6c). The oxygen-impermeable container may be made from EVOH, a fluorocarbon or polyatnide. The inner container 2 may be sealed with an oxygen-permeable membrane 5, both may be made from cyclic olefin polymer. The oxygen absorbing material 14 may be iron. ascorbic acid or sodium ascorbate, or a polymeric resin and catalyst. A method of manufacture is also provided.
