PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless communication device which can secure the reliability of communication while improving throughput or reducing power consumption as much as possible.SOLUTION: A transmission line state evaluation value for evaluating a transmission line state is calculated on the basis of an error of a received signal (ST101). A fading evaluation value for evaluating a fading state is calculated from the received signal (ST102). The transmission line state evaluation value is compared with a prescribed threshold, and determination based on the fading evaluation value is executed (ST108) if it is determined that a current data rate can be changed to a higher data rate (ST106:YES). If distortion due to fading is smaller than an allowable value (ST108:YES), the data rate higher than the current data rate is selected (ST111). If distortion due to fading is equal to or larger than the allowable value (ST108:NO), the current data rate is held (ST110). |
