PURPOSE: A tap hole plug gun for a metallurgical furnace is provided to prevent serious injuries to an operator's hands or arms due to unintendedly forward stroke to a mouthpiece of a pressure cylinder by the uncertain manipulation of the operator. CONSTITUTION: A tap hole plug gun for a metallurgical furnace comprises a pressure cylinder(2), a plugging piston, and a pivotable safety flap(4). The pressure cylinder accepts plugging compound with an injection opening(3). The plugging piston presses plugging compound on the tap hole of a furnace. The pivotable safety flap closes the injection opening of the pressure cylinder. A stopping unit is turned into a cylinder chamber(9) of ht e pressure cylinder during the opening of the flap to decelerate unintended forward stroke.
