Provided is a device for detecting and alarming an elevator operating floor, which includes a plurality of second photo sensors mounted at a side of a display panel incorporating floor display elements for displaying current floor information of where an elevator car is positioned with numbers inside and outside the elevator car, in such a manner that the plurality of second photo sensors are mounted at positions around the display panel corresponding to the predetermined number of segments selected from a plurality of segments forming the floor display elements, thereby sensing light emitting states of the predetermined number of segments; and a controller receiving sensing values output from the plurality of second photo sensors, recognizing the change in the lifting or lowering state of the elevator car, and calculating the floor information where the elevator car is currently positioned according to the change of the light emitting states with respect to the predetermined number of segments which change correspondingly to the change of the lifting or lowering state of the elevator car. The device for detecting and alarming an elevator operating floor as described above is mounted to an elevator car and recognizes the current operating floor of the elevator. Therefore, the device for detecting and alarming an elevator operating floor as above may be installed and operate without any influence on the existing elevator driving system.
