PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus in which accuracy in an automatic focusing processing is improved, and to provide a focusing method and a program. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus 100 includes: an image region-specifying unit 7a for determining a shape of an image region of an attention subject that becomes an object to be focused in a captured image; a region-setting unit 7e for setting a plurality of AF estimation regions based on the shape of the image region of the specified attention subject; and a lens-driving unit 2 for focusing a lens unit 1 based on image data in these AF estimation regions.
