PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antitheft device for showcase, excelling in crime prevention performance in which a salesclerk easily and automatically can lock/unlock showcases with his/her own private key, while any third party cannot unlock, and also preventing persons in charge from failure in locking. SOLUTION: The locking mechanism 10 for locking/unlocking a door 3 of the showcase 1 is constituted so that a latch 11 is optionally-protruded from part of its body is engaged with a latch hole 13 made on the opposite side member to be in a locked state, while the latch is retreated with an electric signal for releasing engagement with the latch hole to be in an unlocked state. Further a detecting means 18 which detects the approach of the private key 20 incorporated with a transponder 21 within a predetermined detection range and a controller thereby reading out an ID code from the transponder by the detection, are also provided.
