METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR SUPPLYING POWER TO OPTICAL NETWORK UNIT

A method and a system for supplying power to an optical network unit (ONU) are disclosed. The method involves a procedure of performing selection starting for at least two power supplies connected with the ONU. Said procedure includes the following steps: sampling the power supply current of the ONU; determining the selection starting scheme of the power supplies connected with the ONU based on the sampling results; and supplying power to the ONU from the power supplies according to the selection starting scheme. In this way, it achieves crossfeed and backup among the power supplies and enhances the stability of the system, by using or adding other power supplies for supplying power, when a fault or over-current occurs in one of the power supplies.
