[Class 65 (ii).] Pivoting-adjustments.-A casement window hinge comprises two plates, for attachment to the window and frame, having arms projecting in the same plane and connected by a friction pivot formed of conical parts of the arms held together by a pivot pin with a. pressure spring. The arms project from the ends of the attachment plates, forming substantially L-shaped members in plan, and the arms are preferably of channel section for strength. The pivot pin has a cup-shaped washer enclosing the spring. In the construction shown, the arms 1, 2 are curved and their edges are flanged, and the attachment portions have bent edge portions 5, 11 to give greater security of attachment. The friction pivot, Fig. 2, comprises conical portions 9, 15 pressed up from the arms 1, 2 respectively and retained together by a headed pin 17 with a rivetedover end holding a cup-shaped washer 19 against the member 2. A pressure-producing spring 20 surrounds the pivot pin between the washer 19 and the conical part 15 to produce friction between the parts 9, 15, between which a conical ring 21 of brass or other material is placed. |
