PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve usability, by decreasing the frequency of an adjusting operation (e.g., a density adjusting operation or position adjusting operation for a toner image, or an operation of adjusting a quantity of charged toner) of an image forming apparatus or a quantity of toner required to print a toner image for performing the adjusting operation to prevent, as much as possible, a time, which is taken from when being alerted that a recovered-toner storage box may become full to when being alerted that the box has been full, from becoming short. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes the recovered-toner storage box and a recovered-toner quantity detecting means, and performs an adjusting operation by forming a toner image on one of a photoreceptor, intermediate transfer body, and transfer material carrier. In the image forming apparatus, when the recovered-toner quantity detecting means detects that a quantity of toner stored in the recovered-toner storage box is larger than a predetermined quantity, the frequency of the adjustment operation or the quantity of toner required to print the toner image is decreased.
