<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an articulation mechanism for use with a surgical stapling apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The articulation mechanism includes: a case body; a rotatable shaft having inner end and outer end and extending through the case body; an articulation member attached to the outer end of the shaft; a rotatable plate which is positioned inside the case body and attached to the inner end of the shaft, and regulates a spiral slot; a translation member attached to the inner part of the case body for the movement in the longitudinal direction; and a pin assembly attached to the translation member, and extending through the spiral slot, so as to allow the rotation of the rotatable plate to cause the movement of the translation member inside the case body in the longitudinal direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
