The chopper (1) has a housing (7) comprising a lower part (3) for accommodating chopping goods and an upper part (5) designed as a cover for the lower part. A chopper blade (11) is arranged on a shaft (9), and a toothed rod is arranged at longitudinal side walls of the lower part, where the side walls are arranged parallel to each other. A toothed wheel connected with the shaft is combed with the toothed rod, where the shaft is guided in a handle (13). The handle is designed in U-shape, and has bearing openings for accommodating ends of the shaft.
