The present invention discloses an electroluminescent (EL) device comprising a substrate (1) and on top of the substrate a substrate electrode (2), a counter electrode (4), an EL layer stack (3) arranged between the substrate electrode and the counter electrode, and an encapsulation means (5) encapsulating at least the EL layer stack and the counter electrode. The encapsulation means comprises at least one electrically conductive feed through (6) that is electrically isolated from the substrate electrode and is furthermore attached to the EL device by means of a metal seal (7) arranged between the encapsulating means and the substrate. Furthermore methods for the production of the inventive EL device are provided. |
