[Class 132 (ii)] [See also Group XVIII] In a game such as snooker, wherein balls are projected into pockets to effect scoring, means are provided to lead pocketed object balls to a storage compartment from which they may be freed by coin-operated means, whereas the larger cue ball is always available for replay. Inclined shoots 5 lead pocketed balls to a slot 6, Fig. 3. The object balls 9 fall through this slot into a chamber 7 and roll onto a pivoted member 12 coming to rest against a barrier 10. The cue ball 8, however being larger than the object balls, rolls along the top of the slot 6 on to a grooved guide 10 and falls into a trough 11 from which it is taken for replay. Alternatively, the cue ball may be too large to enter a pocket. Coin-freed mechanism. The member 12 has a cam portion 13, and is rocked against the action of a spring 17 to allow the object balls to pass under the barrier 10 to the trough 11 by pressing in a coin-freed slide 14, a roller 16 on which coacts with cam 13. The appropriate coin is inserted in a slot 19 in slide 14 and rests on a fixed guide 20. Coacting with the slide is a sprung pawl 18 which engages the slot 19, if a coin is not inserted therein, and prevents the slide from being pressed in any further. Normally, however the pawl rides over the coin, and on continued inward movement of the slide the end 21 of a spring lever 21 forces the coin through a hole 24 whence it drops into a collecting box 23. Until the coin passes through the hole 24 the end 21b of lever 21 prevents completion of the inward movement of the slide. Should the coin inserted be too small it falls through a hole 15 into the box 23 and the pawl 18 engages the slot 19. Each side of the table may carry a scoring device comprising beads slidably mounted on horizontally disposed wires.
