PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus which accurately and simultaneously detects headlights of an oncoming vehicle, taillights of a preceding vehicle, and a pedestrian at night.

SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus includes: a means which acquires first exposure data at a first shutter speed; a means which acquires second exposure data at a second shutter speed lower than the first shutter speed; a means which acquires third exposure data at a third shutter speed lower than the first shutter speed; a means which converts the first exposure data to a visible gray-scale image; a means which outputs the visible gray-scale image; a means which converts the second exposure data to a color image; a means which outputs the color image; a means which converts the third exposure data to an infrared gray-scale image; a means which outputs the infrared gray-scale image; a means which detects a headlight on the basis of the visible gray-scale image; a means which detects a taillight on the basis of the color image; and a means which detects a pedestrian on the basis of an image resulting from calculating the infrared gray-scale image and the color image.
