PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head rest driving mechanism capable of certainly fixing a forwardly moved head rest by a simple mechanism and easily restoring it. SOLUTION: In the head rest driving mechanism, the head rest is forwardly operated by a pressure when an occupant is relatively rearwardly moved relative to the seat back. The mechanism is constituted such that an engagement member is inserted into a space formed when the head rest is forwardly moved and the head rest is not rearwardly returned.
