A self-healing capacitor with safety protection means is provided. The capacitor comprises: a case body (1) made of fire retardant plastic or metal; a capacitor core (3) formed by winding metallized polypropylene foils which is hermetically received in the cavity of the case body (1); and fire retardant epoxy resin (5) filled between the capacitor core (3) and the case body (1). A first electrical contact point (31) and a second electrical contact point (32) are correspondingly provided on the upper end and the lower end of the capacitor core (3). A current fuse (4) is electrically connected to the second electrical contact point (32), and a second leading-out end wire (22) is electrically connected to the current fuse (4). A first leading-out end wire (21) is electrically connected to the first electrical contact point (31). The current fuse (4) is selected to accurately match with the magnitude of the capacitive current of the capacitor, so that the current fuse (4) is kept to normally work during testing and normal operation, whereas at the moment when severe self-healing discharge or thermal breakdown happens to the capacitor core (3) during operation, because an instantaneous dash current is created in the capacitor core (3), the current fuse (4) immediately burns out to cut off the circuit for supplying power to the capacitor core (3). Thereby the occurrence of explosion and accident due to the enlargement of fault spot is avoided. |
