<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable compression ratio type internal combustion engine suitably inhibiting rebound due to knocking and blow back while materializing transient engine load characteristics required by a driver. <P>SOLUTION: In a variable compression ratio type internal combustion engine equipped with a mechanism capable of changing close timing of an intake valve, control for changing effective compression ratio is activated if acceleration demand by intention of the driver is higher than a second prescribed value (YES in Step 100), close timing of the intake valve is controlled to a retardation side in order to avoid knocking if the acceleration demand is still more higher than a first prescribed value (YES in Step 102), and close timing of the intake valve is controlled to an advance side with blow back of the internal combustion engine taken into account if the requirement is not greater than the first prescribed value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
