PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for transparent processing of IPsec network traffic by a security processor in line between a framer and a network processor. SOLUTION: The security processor is provided which processes, between a framer and a network processor, a packet to be exchanged between the framer and the network processor. The framer transmits and receives data in a physical layer, the network processor processes the packet, and the security processor processes an IPsec protocol layer in the packet by removing another protocol layer in the packet.
