PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric kettle having little electric power loss. SOLUTION: The electric kettle comprises: a heating means 2 for heating a container 1; a first temperature sensor 3 installed in the bottom of the container 1; a second temperature sensor 8 installed in a steam passage 7 in the upper part of the container 1; a boiling detecting means 9 that detects temperature rise in the second temperature sensor 8 to stop energization to the heating means 2; a timing means 10 that starts timing after a boiling detecting means 9 detects boiling; a temperature storing means 11 that stores the detected temperature of the first temperature sensor 3 when the timing means 10 performs timing for a prescribed set time; and a temperature raising means 12 that, when a re-heating key 6 for reboiling is pressed, energizes the heating means 2 until the detected temperature of the first temperature sensor 3 rises at least to the temperature stored in the temperature storing means 11. During the reheating operation, the heating means 2 is energized until just before the water in the container 1 boils up, with the energization stopped just before the boiling, which reduces electric power loss due to boiling.
