PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system capable of easily turning a lighting direction in an optional direction and easily performing light distribution setting as aimed. SOLUTION: The lighting system 1 includes a remote control 2 having a pointer 21 for emitting visible light, a lighting section 4 changing the lighting direction, and a controller 3 controlling the lighting section 4 based on instructions from the remote control 2. The remote control 2 includes a distance sensor 22 detecting distances from the remote control 2 to a ceiling surface S1, a front wall surface S2 and a sidewall surface S3; an azimuth sensor 23 detecting the horizontal azimuth of the remote control 2; and a gradient sensor 24 detecting a gradient. The controller 3 computes a position irradiated with visible light by the remote control 2 from: the distances from the remote control 2 to the ceiling surface S1, the front wall surface S2 and the sidewall surface S3; the horizontal azimuth and the gradient of the remote control 2; and the space coordinates of an object T to be illuminated. Then the controller 3 turns the lighting direction of the lighting section 4 to the irradiated position. Thus, light distribution setting as aimed can be easily performed.
