<p>The device (1) has a guide rail (2), and a movement element (3) that is guided with a linear movement in a movement direction (4) in the guide rail. The guide rail or the movement element is formed for connection to a leaf of a sliding door. A set of electromagnets (16) is fixed in relation to the guide rail. A locking element (7) is attachable by the set of electromagnets. The locking element is guided with a linear movement in in a locking direction (15) that is perpendicular to the movement direction.
