PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle detection device for highly accurately detecting information of a vehicle from images. SOLUTION: The vehicle detection device 1 for detecting information of the vehicle from the images imaged with an imaging means 4 includes: a storing means 13 for correlating a characteristic map composed of appearance tendencies in each of a plurality of characteristics on the vehicle with directions of the vehicle to be stored respectively; a map generating means 12 for generating the characteristic map composed of the appearance tendencies of each of the plurality of the characteristics on the vehicle from the images imaging the vehicle with the imaging means 4; and a vehicle azimuth specification means 14 for comparing the characteristic map generated with the map generating means 12 with the characteristic map of a characteristic map group corresponding to the directions of the vehicle stored to the storing means 13 respectively, and specifying the directions of the vehicle on the basis of the comparison result.
