<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a convenient finger vein authentication device of high authentication accuracy using veins in a fingertip, as a personal authentication device mountable on a compact device, such as, a cellular phone and a notebook PC. <P>SOLUTION: The finger vein authentication device includes: an input device 2, having a light source 23 for irradiating a finger with a light and an imaging device 9 for imaging the light from the finger via an aperture 201; and an image processing unit for processing an image imaged by the imaging device 9. The input device 2 includes finger stands 501, 502 for specifying the presentation positions of the top end and the center of the fingertip; and a light shielding wall 503, between the finger stand 501 and the light source 23. The light source 23 is positioned on the surface of or below the input device 2, at the fingertip side of the finger placed on the finger stand.
