<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an impact driver which allows a screw and the like to be screwed into only a desired depth of a basic structure and to provide a method for controlling the impact driver. <P>SOLUTION: The method for controlling the impact driver controls an impact driver comprising a drive shaft, an output shaft, and an impact device that associates the drive shaft with the output shaft for transmitting torque. An operation mode is set at a predetermined time interval. During the predetermined time interval, the drive shaft is rotated in a low rotation speed region to specify whether or not the impact driver is in a state of impacting. When the impacting does not occur in the low rotation speed region, the impact driver is switched to an operation mode for a soft material and the rotation speed of the drive shaft is maintained in the low rotation speed region. On the other hand, when the impacting occurs in the low rotation speed region, the impact driver is switched to an operation mode for a hard material and the rotation speed of the drive shaft is enhanced to a high rotation speed region. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
