PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high pressure fuel pump capable of reducing the number of components by a simple structure, constituted of a seal member of high general-purpose properties, and having high production efficiency. SOLUTION: The high pressure fuel pump includes a roller 73 in slide-contact with a drive cam 32, a roller lifter 53 rotatably supporting the roller 73, a lifter housing 54 slidably supporting the roller lifter 53, a pump body 51, and a plunger 52. A through hole 54f in which a detent part 71b projecting from an outer circumference surface of the roller lifter 53 is inserted slidably in an axial direction of the plunger 52 is formed on the lifter housing 54 in such a manner that the through hole is positioned at the drive cam 32 side of a seal member 59, an annular groove 69 is formed at either an inner circumference surface of the lifter housing 54 or an outer circumference surface of the pump body 51, and the seal member 59 is installed in the annular groove 69.
