PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a belt-type continuously variable transmission to allow miniaturization in a simple structure and accurately detect an actual gear ratio. SOLUTION: The belt-type continuously variable transmission 30 has a surface to be measured 34h formed at the outer circumferential end 34e of a movable sheave 34b and a displacement sensor 90 provided spaced apart from the outer circumferential end 34e to measure the distance between the surface to be measured 34h and the displacement sensor 90. The surface to be measured 34h is formed so that the distance H between the surface to be measured 34h and the displacement sensor 90 is varied as the movable sheave 34b is axially moved.
