PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sash roller brake device which can easily open a sliding door and surely holds it at an intended opening position. SOLUTION: The sash roller brake device includes: a roller 16 which is rotatable around an axis parallel to an axis (a) of the sash roller 7, and engaged with an outer peripheral surface of the sash roller; and a brake member 14 having a profile that forms a narrowed part between the outer peripheral surface of the sash roller and itself. The position of the brake member relative to the sash roller is displaced so that the narrowed part becomes wider upon the opening of the door compared to the occasion upon the closing of the door, whereby a resistance force to the roller passing through the narrowed part upon the opening of the door is made smaller to achieve the smooth opening of the door.
