摘要 <p>#CMT# #/CMT# A UV radiation source is sited in a weathering chamber (50). An enclosure (70), arranged in the chamber and configured to partially enclose the specimen, has an enclosure wall with a rectangular disk-shaped UV radiation filter, a bottom wall for mounting the specimen, and four sidewalls interconnecting the bottom wall and UV radiation filter. UV radiation filter is an edge filter that faces the bottom wall. Each of the four sidewalls connects the four side edges of UV radiation filter to the bottom wall. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Light or weathering device for testing material specimen made of e.g. plastics to determine sun protection factor or light protection factor of chemical or physical light protection factors such as UV light protection factors. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# Eliminates need for components that are needed in conventional devices for mounting UV radiation filter in the vicinity of xenon radiator since UV radiation filter is no longer sited in the direct vicinity of xenon radiator. Eliminates need to adjoin multiple strips of filters to surround the xenon radiator since UV radiation filter is configured as part of enclosure or enclosure wall. Ensures only the UV radiation emitted by xenon radiator directly reaches the specimen from xenon radiator since provision of enclosures enables closing off light-tight inwards so that no stray radiation from xenon radiator gains access to the specimen. Prevents impingement of specimen by stray radiation since only filtered radiation gains to the specimen when UV radiation filter is sited as part of enclosure to dispose between the xenon radiator and specimen. Ensures UV radiation filter is no longer exposed to high thermal stress since UV radiation filter is no longer located in the direct vicinity of xenon radiator. Maintains constant transmission characteristic of the UV filter since no fluctuations in temperature occur as in the vicinity of xenon radiator due to temperature control, thus satisfying tolerances specified for determining the light protection factor in accordance with the pertinent standards e.g. German Institute for Standardization (DIN) 67501 or colipa method.
